A personal note on what sustains me as an immigrant teacher
The burden of leaving loved ones for the sake of personal growth is something we immigrants always carry. There isn’t a single day I don’t feel blessed for those who truly pray for my success in life, for my growth at work and for financial stability. And of course, nothing can replace family and friends who share their pure love with you from a distance.
My grandma (this gorgeous lady in the photo) chose my name when I was born, and this is the best gift she has given me so far. Tonight, while I was talking online with my Aziz (this is what I call my grandma), I felt deeply how lucky I am to have them in my life. It’s been a few years since the last time I hugged her, and I am counting down the seconds to hold her once again.
"I love you Aziz"
